Installing the Cookieless tag

Last updated: July 6, 2026

The Cookieless tag is the foundation of the N.Rich tag installation. It runs on every visitor to your website - regardless of whether they've accepted cookies - and gives N.Rich the account-level data it needs for analytics, buyer journey tracking, and ad attribution.

This article covers installing the Cookieless tag via Google Tag Manager. If you haven't set up GTM yet, start with Setting up Google Tag Manager for N.Rich. If you're installing directly without GTM, see the N.Rich tag – technical installation guide.

Step 1: Get your tag code from N.Rich

Log into your N.Rich account and go to the Setup section:

You'll see your unique Cookieless tag code on that page. Click Copy text to copy it - no modifications needed.

This code is unique to your account. Don't use a tag code from a guide or another source - always copy it directly from your N.Rich settings.

Step 2: Add the tag in Google Tag Manager

Open Google Tag Manager and navigate to the correct container for your website.

  1. From the left menu, go to Tags and click New in the top right.

  2. Give the tag a name - for example, N.Rich Cookieless Tag.

  3. Under Tag Configuration, choose Custom HTML.

  4. Paste the code you copied from N.Rich into the HTML box.

  5. Scroll down to the Triggering section.

  6. Select All Pages as the trigger.

  7. Click Save in the top right.

The Cookieless tag is now configured to fire on every page of your website.

What's next

If your website doesn't use cookies, you're done with tag installation - skip ahead to Testing and verifying your tag installation to confirm everything is working.

If your website uses cookies and you want to enable Standard mode (recommended), continue to Activating Standard mode (cookie consent).
