What does each campaign setting do?
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Every campaign has the same set of settings: name, locations, segments, UTM tag, duration and budget. This article explains what each one does, whether you set it when creating the campaign or change it later.
Name
Pick a name that's easy to recognise, up to 128 characters. It becomes the main identifier of your campaign across all N.Rich reports and analytics.
Locations
The countries where the campaign runs. Leave it empty to run your ads in every country where the accounts in your segments operate. Limiting the campaign to some countries limits its reach, but it makes sense when you only want to reach your buyers in specific countries.
Target segments and excluded segments
Target segments are the accounts the campaign shows ads to. Excluded segments are accounts it never shows ads to. If an account is in both, the exclusion wins and the account isn't targeted.
For example, target your hot accounts segment and exclude your customers segment. If a new customer is still in the hot accounts segment, the campaign won't target it.
UTM campaign tag
The utm_campaign value added to the links in your ads, so you can find this campaign's traffic in your own analytics tools. Many teams reuse the campaign name (up to 128 characters). Use + instead of spaces: it turns into a space in Google Analytics.
N.Rich sets utm_source and utm_medium automatically, and you can't change them. See How do UTM parameters work on N.Rich ads?
Duration
Choose Run campaign continuously from start date to run the campaign until you stop it, or Set start and end dates to run it for a set period. When the end date passes, the campaign is Finished.
The duration doesn't change how much the campaign spends per month. If you plan a campaign shorter than a month, take this into account when you set the monthly budget.
Monthly budget
How much the campaign can spend in a month. N.Rich spreads it across the month, spending more on days with more traffic. See How do campaign budgets and ad credit work?
Ad credit budget source
If your ad credit is split into budget groups, choose which group this campaign spends from. See How do campaign budgets and ad credit work?
Changing settings later
Open the campaign and click the cogwheel icon to change its settings. If the campaign is live and has Cross-channel or Image display ads, a pop-up warns that the change may restart the learning phase. Make all your changes at once to avoid restarting Learning again and again. See How does campaign Learning work?
