What do campaign and delivery statuses mean?

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Campaigns and ads show a status so you can see at a glance what's running. This article explains each campaign status and each ad delivery status.

Campaign statuses

Status

What it means

Draft

The campaign is created but hasn't been launched. It doesn't show ads.

Live

The campaign is running and showing ads.

Stopped

The campaign was stopped. You can start it again with the switch in the Status column.

Finished

The campaign's end date has passed. It can't be started again with the switch. To run it again, clone it.

On the Campaigns page, Group by status sorts campaigns into the Drafts, Launched, Stopped and Finished folders. See What's on the Campaigns page?

Campaigns with Cross-channel or Image display ads can also show a Learning badge. It isn't a status: it means Google is adjusting delivery. See How does campaign Learning work?

Ad status

Each ad is Live or Stopped. Use the switch next to the status on the campaign's page to turn an ad on or off.

Ad delivery statuses

Cross-channel and Image display ads show a delivery status on the campaign's page:

Delivery status

What it means

Delivering

The ad delivered results in the past 48 hours.

Passive

The ad delivered results before, but not in the past 48 hours.

Not Delivering

The ad hasn't delivered results in the past 7 days.

Inactive

The ad is stopped and not running.

If an approved ad shows Not Delivering, contact your Solutions Engineer.

These ads also have an approval status from Google. See What does my ad's approval status mean?
